We all need our moments alone, to reconnect with ourselves and explore who we truly are as individuals. However, we also all need a sense of community. A sense of togetherness. Spending time with family, friends and neighbors can help form and solidify relationships, prevent loneliness and make us healthier. Studies have shown that people who have a sense of community are happier and generally live longer than those who don’t. We can be part of another human being’s life by sharing stories and celebrating accomplishments. We can take care of one another by showing empathy and compassion. A sense of belonging can help us feel safe and secure, knowing that we can lean on others for support and be there for those who need us to lean on.
